FMVSS 302 Burning Flammability Tester Of Interior Materials For Automotive Combustion Tester
This combustion tester is a high-precision professional device designed for the detection of flammability of automotive interior materials. It fully complies with the requirements of FMVSS 302, the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard, and equivalent standards such as ISO 3795, GB 8410, etc.
By simulating the combustion behavior of materials under specific conditions, the instrument accurately measures key parameters such as combustion rate and extinguishing conditions, providing reliable data for automakers, parts suppliers, and materials research institutes to ensure that automotive interior materials meet the mandatory safety regulations of the global mainstream market and effectively ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.
Core functions and working principles:
Functions: Clamp a standard-sized specimen horizontally on a U-shaped stand, burn it with a specified bunsen flame to its exposed edge for a certain amount of time (usually 15 seconds) in a designated combustion box, and then observe the spread of the flame.
How it works: The combustion rate of the material is calculated by measuring the time it takes for the flame to spread from the datum mark line to the terminating marking line. Determine whether the material is qualified according to the standard (e.g. FMVSS 302 requires a combustion rate of no more than 102 mm/min).

Main components:
- Combustion box: Made of stainless steel, the inner wall is coated with corrosion-resistant dark paint, and the front is equipped with a pyrex observation window for easy observation of the experimental process. There are ventilation holes on the top of the box and ventilation grooves at the bottom to ensure stable air circulation.
- U-Shaped Specimen Holder: Used to precisely hold specimens of standard sizes (typically 356mm x 100mm) with adjustable tilt angle.
- Standard burner (Bunsen): Provides a flame that meets standard requirements (flame height is typically 38mm, heat output is about 1000 BTU/ft³).
- Flame Height Measuring Device: Typically equipped with a standard ruler for precise calibration of flame height before experiments.
- Air Source System: Includes gas (usually methane or LPG) interfaces, pressure regulating valves, flow meters, and check valves to ensure stable and safe gas supply.
- Automatic Timer: A high-precision electronic timer for precise control of flame application time and measurement of burn time.
- Foil marker line: Affixed to the specimen to identify the start and end of the burning distance, stopping the timing when the line is burned out.
Advantage:
- High Precision and Reliability: Key components such as timers and flow meters are made of high-precision devices to ensure the repeatability and reproducibility of test data, with accurate and reliable results.
- High safety: The box design effectively containment the combustion process; Equipped with check valve to prevent backfire; The viewing window can be effectively protected.
- Easy to operate: User-friendly design, intuitive operation interface, easy loading and unloading of fixtures, easy to clean and maintain.
- Sturdy and Durable: The main structure is made of stainless steel and corrosion-resistant materials, ensuring that the equipment remains stable over time.
- Intelligent Control: Modern models often come with digital control systems that automatically control ignition, timing, and data recording, reducing human error.
